IS 3D REALLY NECESSARY?

Hello….last post for the day. I read an article that was posted by The Guardian and it got me thinking…is 3D necessary?

TITANIC, directed by James Cameron, is being re-released next year in April 2012 in 3D to tie in with the hundredth anniversary of the ship’s sinking. We know Martin Scorsese’s HUGO is in 3D, now I’m reading that THE HOBBIT is also going 3D. Baz Luhrmann who is directing THE GREAT GATSBY may possibly be shot in 3D. I seriously hope not…really!

It seems that directors want to put out films in 3D. Ok, now I like to see a film in 3D, but sometimes it’s just not necessary. The Great Gatsby should not even be in 3D, there is no need for it. Big Hollywood blockbusters I can see, but….seriously.

To me filming in the 3D format takes away the quality of the movie you know what I mean? Look at this year’s CONAN THE BARBARIAN. I thought it was unnecessary to see it in 3D…even though it bombed.

In my opinion if the film is good with quality writing, story plot, good characterization, chances are 3D is out of the question. What do you think? Is 3D necessary?

I will return tomorrow for all things films. Good Night and Be Blessed!
